creating shell scripts from .bat files

I wouldn't expect any problems. I agree that there should also be UNIX
scripts.
You might want to examine the "Node" and "Node.sh" scripts in the
"$COUGAAR_INSTALL_PATH/bin" directory. There's also a "Node.bat". These
should be nearly equivalent to the tutorial's "Run.bat" script. For example,
you can type:
$COUGAAR_INSTALL_PATH/bin/Node ExerciseOneNode
